Given the top iPads run M1, M2 chips technically it should be possible to run Parallels or some equivalent VM software even if Boot-loader is locked on iPads preventing bare-metal running of OS.Īre there any restraints on the iPad otherwise? I believe the main restraint is not allowing Apps running any Hyper-Visor to circumvent the App store by Apple. ![]() The Asahi project is working on a Linux version that is installed onto such machines "bare metal" aka "non-virtualized". On MBA M1 devices, Parallels (although a paid for app) does a great job of running VM's so you can run Windows11 or many Linux distros or even MacOS inside MacOS.
